Beer Details:
Eligibility: All entries must be homebrewed. No commercially brewed entries will be accepted.
The competition WILL be BJCP sanctioned! Judges will be using the 2021 BJCP Style Guidelines and beers should be entered into categories appropriately. Please note that if entries are submitted without a 2021 BJCP style listed, the Competition Organizer will do their best to ensure it gets judged in the appropriate category, but the best way to make sure your beer gets judged the way you want it to be, is to make sure you submit it in the correct category!
Style guidelines can be found at https://www.BJCP.org/BJCP-style-guidelines
This is a beer-only competition. No ciders or mead, please.
Most beer styles are welcome, including lagers. Sour beers and/or barrel aged beers are not eligible for the best in show round or any prizes; sour and barrel aged beers may be submitted for judging and scoring, however.
For those entering homebrewed extract beers, be prepared to formulate an all grain equivalent recipe for your entry if your beer is the best in show winner. Katabatic’s brewing staff and other homebrew club members are willing to help with this.
For each entry, submit a minimum of three (3) bottles or cans that meet the following guidelines:
o Entries must be in bottles or aluminum cans that hold a minimum of 12 oz in volume. Submit 3 bottles or cans per entry.
o Bottles must be brown or green in color and cans must be standard aluminum cans, all must be free of ink, paint or paper labeling other than the competition entry label. Raised brewery lettering on import bottles or beers or beers with national distribution are acceptable but discouraged. Remove or blur beyond distinction any identifying marks from bottle caps. Solid color bottle caps are acceptable; caps with colors other than these finishes may be rejected at the discretion of the Judge Director. Caps with identifiable markings that make them unique as determined by the Judge Director with visible symbols, writing, etching, coating etc will be disqualified. If there is any doubt that a cap is compliant, it is recommended to apply a coat of opaque black (sharpie) ink to all surfaces of the caps.
